About Us

The owners are a group of like-minded individuals living on Vancouver Island. We love the outdoors and came across an opportunity to apply our vast knowledges to a business that deserved to stay alive to
serve the Holberg community. While out on a motorcycle adventure 4 of the new owners stumbled upon the Scarlet Ibis Restaurant and Pub. They saw a current owner, Pat Gwynne, who had been running the establishment for over 40 years. Pat had given her all to the business but truly needed a rest. We took ownership of the restaurant and pub in the latter part of 2020.

Yes 2020, an awkward time to want to get into the restaurant pub business for sure! With so many restaurants closing and all under strict rules given COVID 19, but we were always in it for the long term and hope that COVID 19 would not be around forever.

Almost any time you drop in you will likely find one of the owners pitching in because that is just the kind of people we are.

Our Goals

1) To serve our neighbors – the loggers and residents of Holberg with a safe place to gather, share stories and enjoy good food and the company of friends.
2) To be a welcomed stop for outdoor enthusiasts that venture into the northern part of Vancouver Island and specifically those wanting to experience Cape Scott Provincial Park and the North Coast Trail. Allowing them to gear up for their adventures and upon their return share their experiences and accomplishments over a cold beverage and a hot meal.
